Logo-Ports-of-Genoa5PORTS OF GENOA: FOUR PORTS, ONE PORT AUTHORITY
Genoa, Pra’, Savona and Vado Ligure, the ports of the Western Ligurian Sea – joined forces to form
the Ports of Genoa, and today rank as Italy’s pre-eminent port range in terms of total throughput,
product diversity and economic output.
Since the end of 2016, the four ports have been governed by a single Port Authority which is
committed to offering the highest standards of service to operators and customers alike,
improving efficiency by streamlining administrative procedures and enhancing the competitive
edge of the ports with investments in tangible and intangible assets.
THE MAIN SOUTHERN GATEWAY TO THE HEARTLAND OF EUROPE
The northernmost point of the Mediterranean Sea, the Ports of Genoa are easily accessible by sea
across the ultra-large container vessels which can dock in the ports’ natural deepwater, with
minimal tidal range and favourable marine conditions. Within a 600-km range of the ports sits the
industrial heartland of Europe: Switzerland, Bavaria, Baden-Wurttemberg, Austria.
30 SPECIALISED TERMINALS
Located across a total surface area of approximately 7 million sqm, 30 specialised terminals
handle over 70 million tons of cargo, catering for all key commodity sectors: container, general
cargo, ro/ro and bulk. The Ports of Genoa rank as the leading Mediterranean gateway port for
containers (2.67 million TEUs in 2018, in line with 2017 performance, despite the Morandi bridge
collapse), project and heavy-lift cargo, and fruit.
EFFICIENT LAND-SEA CONNECTIONS
The Ports of Genoa benefit from a strategic position with easy access to/from the major inland
routes, both by road across the international motorway network and by rail to major industrial
destinations.
Located at the southern end of the European TEN-T Rhine-Alpine Corridor, the ports benefit from
major infrastructure investments to upgrade capacity, such as the High Speed Rail Line between
Genoa and Milan, the West Motorway Bypass and the New Breakwater, for a total investment
programme of over 12 billion euros. In addition, the Port Authority is committed to an intensive use
and expansion of its Port Community System to ensure the smooth exchange of electronic
documents amongst all parties concerned in the logistics supply chain, to reduce dwelling and
transit times in the ports.
ONE OF THE MED’S TOP PASSENGER PORTS
The Ports of Genoa feature amongst the Mediterranean’s leading passenger hubs: every year over
4.2 million passengers choose Genoa, Savona and Vado as embarkation ports for their holidays.
Welcoming over 2 million cruise passengers per year, the state-of-the-art terminals in Genoa and
Savona are homeports to the world’s major cruise liners for itineraries in the Med, as well as transit
ports featuring a wide selection of attractive destinations, from Genoa’s eclectic historic centre (a
designated UNESCO World Heritage Site) or the fascinating cobblestone lanes of Savona’s
medieval centre, to picturesque landscapes along the glamorous Italian Riviera: the world famous
Portofino or other gems such as Santa Margherita, Camogli and Finale Ligure.

???????????????The Zenatek Tracking System (ZTS) can be used to track, report and monitor cargo worldwide using advanced real-time monitoring. ZTS tracking device is a small and sturdy piece of equipment, with simple specifications and fool-proof installation; the device has an internal sophisticated sensors to provide geographical positions, temperature, humidity; in this way, the shipments can be monitored from departure through its destination anywhere in the world. If something unexpected happens to the package, the system sends immediate alerts by mail. Once the cargo is arrived to the destination, the unit does not need to be recovered and sent back to the shipper, eliminating, in this way, all costs associated with these tasks. The Zenatek Tracking System was designed based on a strict cost control, in order to develop container tracking devices at an affordable price, but also provide most of what is needed by the end-user: tracking and monitoring.
