One of our controlled company, Coremas Polaris, has just celebrated the new opening of a depot for reefer and dry containers storage, maintenance and repair right next to the Port of Livorno, about 6 km far away from the docks, and efficiently connected to the Italian highway network. The exact name of the location is Interporto Toscano “Amerigo Vespucci” and the depot is well organized and set up to optimize the handling and the repair of either dry and reefer containers. We own an area of approximately 55.000 square meters (of which 2.000 are indoor and suitable to carry on M&R during the worst weather conditions).
The wide space joined to the perfect rectangular shape of the depot allows a perfect “first in first out” container M&R work flow and reduces enormously the handling operations and the related costs. To rise productivity, we equipped the depot with two different reserved washing and PTI areas with water depurators and oil separators for a more environment-friendly investment approach. The biggest portion of the yard is reserved to the activity of container storage and repair, where also reefer and dry containers spare parts warehouses are arranged to enhance productivity over cutting, welding, painting and parts replacement operations (less waste of time and materials). As we move the focus toward the reefer containers M&R, through effective dealership agreements, we are long term partners of the world leaders reefer machines manufacturers (Thermoking, Carrier, Maersk/Star Cool, Daikin and Paul Klinge) and we are perfectly entitled to manage an effective warranty service on damaged spare parts.
We are well aware of the fact that a winning competitive market strategy must be based on the best mix between quality and price and we set up this new container facility because we strongly believe that we can achieve the best containers M&R performances at the lowest cost and let our customers enjoy the benefits of this strategy through lower handling and repair fees. Further great arise through the cooperation with Sogese (Coremas Polaris’s controlling company) which, is one of the biggest Italian second hand shipping containers trader and sells, yearly, more than 3.500 units all over the world. Therefore, Sogese is also a reliable vehicle for a quick container remarketing activity aimed to rapidly cash some of the investments companies have made in the fleet. I believe that the current market rules are pushing competing companies to create partnerships and to look for valuable and effective opportunities in order to improve and consolidate leadership market positions. Currently, many shipping and leasing companies belong to our customer portfolio and take advantage of this great combination between quality, cost savings and a faster return of cash on the container fleet.
